Featured Book: “Every Feeling I Could Name”
In Every Feeling I Could Name, Nicky Bennett charts the emotional landscape with precision and care, tracing the subtle gradients between connection and isolation, stillness and intensity, hope and uncertainty. Each poem becomes both artifact and inquiry—an attempt to name what resists easy language.
Structured across four distinct emotional terrains, the collection invites readers to move deliberately through their own inner world, pausing at each feeling long enough to see it clearly. The result is both intimate and expansive, grounded in lived experience yet universally recognizable.
This is a collection that does not look away from emotion—but instead, meets it fully, and gives it form.
About My Work
My writing moves between poetry, memoir, and personal essays, exploring masculinity, vulnerability, desire, and the quiet ways identity takes shape over time. I’m often drawn to the small moments that reveal something larger—moments when the roles we’ve learned to play begin to shift, and something more honest starts to surface.
Across my books, I return to a few recurring questions: what it means to remove the armor we build to survive, how we learn to say yes to the parts of ourselves we were taught to hide, and what becomes possible when strength and softness are no longer treated as opposites. Ultimately, my work is an attempt to understand how we become more fully ourselves.
I am also the Editor-in-Chief of a modern online literary magazine called Not Quite Right Literary Magazine, which amplifies and champions voices that don’t quite color inside the lines. You can visit Not Quite Right and see all of the exciting things going on over there.
Speaking & Conversations
I’m available for podcast interviews, literary events, and conversations about masculinity, vulnerability, identity, and the writing process. My work often explores the cultural expectations placed on men and the quieter, more personal questions about what it means to live honestly and feel deeply.
